At Bryn Offa, we believe Art fires the imagination and is a stimulus for creativity. Our pupils develop the skills, concepts and knowledge for them to express their own personal responses to ideas and experiences. Art gives pupils the opportunity to explore their own ideas by experimenting, inventing and creating their own individual pieces of work using a wide range of materials.
Our intent:
The intent of the Bryn Offa Art & Design Curriculum is to develop the children’s skills concepts and knowledge to allow them to express their own personal responses to ideas and experiences. Learning with art, craft and design stimulates creativity and imagination. It provides visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a special way of understanding and
responding to the world.
Children will be taught to use the mediums of drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, collage and printing. The Art & Design Curriculum gives pupils the opportunity to explore their own
ideas by experimenting, inventing and creating their own individual pieces of work using a range of materials.
Our Curriculum:
Past projects:
Class 3 – Fruit printing – July 2024
Class 4 – Felting project – March 2024
Coronation Tile project – Whole School – April 2023
As part of our school celebrations of King Charles III coronation we had an incredibly exciting opportunity to great a beautiful art installation in the hall. Every pupil has painted a tile and when brought together they make a stunning image representing both Bryn Offa and King Charles III.
Reception and Year 1 pupils had the opportunity to paint their tiles in school.
Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils were able to visit the Jackfield Tile Museum and learn about the process of making tiles before painting their own.
Leaf bashing – Class 2 – April 2022
Class 2 had the opportunity to design and create their own piece of cotton using a petal bashing technique. A huge thank you to Morrisons in Oswestry who donated all the flowers.
