Equality Objectives

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to publish information that demonstrates our commitment to:

  • Eliminating unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimization, and any other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.
  • Advancing equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
  • Fostering good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.

At Bryn Offa CE Primary School, we are an inclusive community dedicated to the well-being and progress of every child. We believe all members of our school community hold equal value and worth.

The Equality Act provides a framework that supports our dedication to valuing diversity, challenging discrimination, promoting equality, and fostering positive relationships. It also strengthens our focus on addressing disadvantage and closing achievement gaps among different groups.

Our approach to equality is guided by these key principles:

  1. All learners are of equal value.
  2. We recognise and respect differences.
  3. We foster positive attitudes and relationships, creating a shared sense of belonging.
  4. We observe good equalities practice in recruitment, retention, and staff development.
  5. We strive to reduce and eliminate inequalities and barriers that currently exist.
  6. We hold the highest expectations for all our children.

Our commitment is to ensure equal education and opportunities for all pupils, staff, parents, and carers, regardless of race, gender, disability, belief, religion, or socio-economic background.

To support our pupils further, raise standards, and ensure inclusive teaching, we have set the following objectives:

Objective 1: Ensure all staff and governors receive regular training in Equality & Diversity.

Objective 2: Promote and encourage respect for diversity and varied ways of living through our curriculum.

Objective 3: Build a culture of respect for the protected characteristics as outlined by law.

Objective 4: Raise awareness and understanding of bullying in all its forms.

Objective 5: Encourage every pupil’s full engagement in all aspects of school life and their experience of “the abundant life that Jesus offers.
