Message from our School Governing Body

Wednesday 15th November 2023

Dear Parents/Carers and Pupils,

As you know Mr Thompson, our Headteacher, is retiring at the end of December and we would like to update you on the arrangements we are taking to recruit a new Headteacher as well as the interim support arrangements that have been agreed to cover this period.

The post will shortly be advertised, with interviews taking place in February and the announcement of the successful applicant will be made in early March.  It is expected that the new Headteacher will be in post at the start of the September term 2024.

During the interim period we are happy to announce that Mr Jones will take up the post of interim Headteacher with some teaching responsibilities.   Miss Harvey has agreed to also take up the post of interim Deputy Headteacher.  As well as continuing with supply teacher arrangements, other staff will also be stepping up and covering additional duties and hours.  We are extremely grateful for the staff’s willingness to take on this additional workload until a new Headteacher takes up their post.

We appreciate that the current, temporary situation is a little unsettling for everyone, but we would like to assure you that all actions and decisions have been taken with the children’s best interest at heart.  Arrangements will be reviewed on a regular basis and any necessary changes made, if required.

Should you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Jones or a member of the School Governing Body.

May we finally take this opportunity to thank Mr Thompson for his many years of service to the school and wish him all the best in his retirement.

Best wishes,

Rev Kathy Trimby (Chair) and the School Governors
