Today we all made our own gift box using Computer Aided Design (CAD). Once the children had designed their net, they created it on the computer and printed out a paper prototype. Some children then needed to make some alterations before printing out their final product onto card. Inside their Christmas gift box was some yummy chocolate and orange shortbread. As well as developing their D&T skills, this project allowed them to practise perseverance and patience.
Well done Class 4 – You have created some amazing products and I am incredibly proud of you all!
This week in Class 4 we are looking at shell structures. We started off by evaluating current products and decided what we liked and would use for our own product. We decided to use exciting font, pictures and a colour scheme on our product. It was essential our food product had an ingredient list too.
Next, we had a go at making 3D shapes from nets.
We learnt that pyramids were a nightmare to make, tabs were essential and worked best when in a trapezium shape. We created our design criteria: Design, make and evaluate a gift box for a family member for Christmas.
Our last task of the day was to start designing our own gift box. The children have worked really hard and been extremely enthusiastic.
Well done Class 4
Rota Kids have been incredibly busy over the last few weeks preparing for the Bryn Offa Christmas Market to raise money for a school in Ethiopia. The market will take place in the Art Room during the school day on Monday and Tuesday and parents are welcome to attend after school on Monday. Children are invited to bring in a maximum of £5.00 to support Rota Kids.
Please send in any donations of books and cakes in to school on Monday. Thank you for your continued support.
Below is a small example of some of the products that will be on sale.
We look forward to seeing you on Monday!
The Year 5s had a fantastic few days at Condover and behaved exceptionally well, as always. They challenged themselves to try new things, whether that was on the trapeze or staying away from home for the first time. I have added a selection of photos below but the children should be able to access all of the photos on the computers in school.
I have just checked my emails and realised that I have received one from the Year 5 pupils and staff from Condover. It sounds like they are having an amazing time.
Everyone is having a great time at Condover and are well into their second morning activity, archery. Yesterday the children tackled different height challenges, either trapeze or zip wire. I am sure the children can’t wait to tell you all about the activities they have done.
We look forward to welcoming them back at school tomorrow afternoon.
