Class 3 – Class of 2023-2024

PE will be every Monday and Wednesday this half term. Please make sure your PE kit is in school every day as sometimes we may have to switch PE days, due to the weather or other events in school.

Xplore! Trip

On Wednesday 21st February, Class 3 had a fantastic day at Xplore! in Wrexham. We completed a light and sound workshop as well as a construction kit one. The children also had the opportunity to practise their observation skills as they investigated the different exhibits in the science museum. We had so much fun – lots of giggles could be heard and big smiles were on the children’s faces!

Express Yourself Dress Up Day

On Friday 9th February, the children dressed up to express themselves. It was lovely to see them all looking so unique and sharing their personalities.

Macavity

This week, the children have loved learning the poem ‘Macavity’ by T. S. Eliot. We have been looking at the interesting vocabulary he has used and practiced performing it with actions and expression. After half term, we will create a character description for the mystery cat himself.

Tie Dye Project

Over this half term, Class 3 have been completing a tie dye project with Mrs Hartland. They have thoroughly enjoyed this topic and produced some fantastic products so far. We are hoping their final product is dry enough to take home today. I am sure you are excited to see them!

Rama and Sita

On Wednesday, we completed a drama activity to retell the story of Rama and Sita. The children took on different roles and worked really well together. Here are a selection of some of the pictures we took during the session.

Making pasta salads

On Friday, we made our pasta salads and tasted them. We included 3 vegetables and 1 protein so our pasta salad was part of a healthy diet.

Tasting pasta salads

As part of our design and technology project, we tasted a variety of pasta salads on Tuesday. We described their appearance, smell, taste and texture before deciding which one was our favourite and which was the healthiest.

Class 3’s Visit from Father Christmas and Mrs Twinkletoes

On Monday, Class 3 got to meet Father Christmas and his elf Mrs Twinkletoes, who gave them each a present.

Class 3’s Visit from The Fire Service

Class 3 have enjoyed learning about Fire Safety this morning. They have learnt: How to spot a fire in the home, how to escape safely if there is a fire in the home, what to do if you cannot escape, how to make a 999 call, Stop, Drop and Roll and the importance of smoke alarms.

They will be bringing home some more information about this today. To support this, we ask that you fill in the escape route for your home together and that children are able to recall their home address.

Well done Class 3 for listening so well and asking such sensible questions.

Class 3 Egyptian Day!

What a fantastic day we have had! We started our day creating an Egyptian timeline, learning about pharaohs and Egyptian clothing. We have looked at Egyptian mummies, written our name in hieroglyphics and make clay shabtis and scarabs. We also learnt about home life, played a food game and even made throwing sticks! It has been amazing to spend a day with so many hands-on resources and artefacts – no technology in sight! A big thank you to parents for the most wonderful costumes, the children looked absolutely fabulous!
